7 Awesome Workouts to Get You in Shape Before Summer

 

There’s no question that we tend to focus here on getting you feeling stronger and fitter, rather than focusing just on how you look.

Because I really, truly believe if you follow the 80/20 rule and work out like an athlete, the body you want will just follow.

Yet even if you’re still surrounded by snow, summer will be here before you know it—and if you want to feel more confident while half-naked at the beach (and really, who doesn’t?), the time to start hitting it hard is NOW.

Here are 7 workouts to get you in shape before summer rolls around:

#1: Beach Ready Abs Workout

Let’s face it, most of us (myself included) are the most self-conscious about our abs whenever we’re at a beach or somewhere requiring a bathing suit. This workout will not only help you lose fat, it will also strengthen your core and get you well on your way to getting the six pack or flat abs you’ve always wanted.

Workout length: 12 minutes

#2: Superhero in Training Workout

Who doesn’t want to become a superhero? I mean, really?

If I could, I’d have awesome superhero powers like the ability to fly and teleport my way halfway across the world in less than a second. But since I don’t yet have these magical superhero powers (and I’m assuming you don’t either), the next best thing to do is to train like one. That way, even if you can’t fly you’ll still look amazing (because all superheroes look amazing, right?).

Workout length: 12 minutes
Equipment needed: A box (or sturdy elevated surface) and a kettlebell

#3: First Day of Summer Sexy Challenge Workout

Just because it’s not quite summer yet doesn’t mean you shouldn’t train like it is. Work hard now and see the results when summer is actually here!

As a bonus, you’ll get really sexy from doing this workout. Yes, really.

#4: Fat Scorching Sandbag Challenge Workout

The key to feeling confident in the summer months is to get your body’s fat burning abilities working efficiently before summer starts, and this challenge workout will help you do that efficiently and quickly. Just remember that for maximum effect, you’ll need to work as hard as you possibly can.

Equipment needed: A sandbag or a backpack/duffle bag filled with heavy stuff

#5: Let’s Get Abs Before Summer Workout

More abs! Because, again, pretty much everyone wants abs to be proud of before beach season. Just remember, the key to great abs is to not only train your abs, but to also burn the fat off of them so they can actually show. This workout will do both if you work hard enough.

#6: Summertime Outdoor Bodyweight Workout

Whether or not the snow has melted where you are yet and you can actually do this workout outdoors, it’s always good to have a few workouts up your sleeve that you can do anywhere with zero equipment. This is a full body workout that will get you drenched in sweat with every muscle in your body aching by the end.

#7: Tabata workouts

Tabata workouts are awesome for so many reasons, but they’re especially great before summer when you want to get in shape in a hurry. You can really do tabatas with any exercise, but you can never go wrong with exercises like high knees, double unders or burpees to get your metabolism up in no time flat.

Get creative with your tabata workouts—you can mix and match exercises, double up or even do three in a row.

Workout length: 4 minutes
Equipment needed: It’s up to you
