New Course: Rock the Pistol Is Here!

Rock the Pistol Workout Program

Last week, we talked all about what makes pistol squats so awesome and why you should learn to do them, no matter what your current fitness level is.

We hope you got excited, because as promised, we’ve put together a brand new pistol squat course for you!

Because whether you’ve been working on your pistols for a while now, or whether you still believe there’s no way you’ll ever do a pistol squat—here at 12 Minute Athlete we believe you can do anything if you work hard and put your mind to it.

And our newest skill-based course, Rock the Pistol, can help you get there.

Finally Learn How to Rock a Pistol Squat

Rock the Pistol will give you everything you need to know about how to master a pistol squat, the ultimate bodyweight leg exercise.

If you’re one of those people who think there’s no way you will ever be able to do a pistol—maybe your legs are too long, you’re not even close to being strong enough, your flexibility sucks, you’re not a superhero, etc.—keep reading.

Because no matter what your current fitness level, you can do pistols if you commit, work hard, and really put your mind to it.

So You Think You Can’t Do a Pistol Squat?

Pistol squats are hard, there’s absolutely no doubt about that. You may even be intimidated by them (I used to be). But don’t let that stop you. The bigger the challenge, the greater the reward!

If you’ve never even tried to do a pistol because you think that you won’t be able to do one anyway, think again. How can you completely write off something that you haven’t even tried?

And if you have tried to do a pistol but had no clue what to do next and eventually just gave up, know that although it’s not easy to do, it’s also not impossible.

In both cases, our 8-week Rock the Pistol course will help you get there.

You Can Do Pistols, But Just a Few?

Maybe you’re at the point where you can do one or two pistol squats on one leg, but have plateaued for who knows how long, and are feeling frustrated and discouraged.

Or maybe you can bust out a few on your right leg, but no matter what you do, the left side seems to never get better.

In either case, Rock the Pistol is for you.

What Rock the Pistol Will do for You

It may seem obvious that in order to be able to do pistol squats, you need to be really strong.

But pistols aren’t just about strength. If that was the case, all those people who are able to do super heavy barbell squats could also do pistols. But most of them can’t.

Rock the Pistol gives you all of the tools you’ll need to get strong, flexible, and mobile enough to do pistol squats.

Here’s what you’ll be building in this 8-week course:

Strength

Pistol squats are undoubtedly the best bodyweight strength exercise for building really strong legs. In this course, we’ll walk you through the very best pistol progressions to help you build the type of strength specifically needed for pistol squats.

You’ll also find additional supplemental strength exercises that prepare your legs and core to be able to rock pistol squats.

Flexibility

You may not realize it, but you actually need a good amount of flexibility to be able to do pistols.

Don’t worry if you’re not super bendy just yet, because with the help of the stretches you’ll do when taking this course, your flexibility will improve significantly.

Mobility

Without enough mobility in your ankles and hips, you’ll always have a tough time performing pistol squats.

In our Rock the Pistol course, we address this part of pistol training too and provide you with various mobility exercises to help your joints move better. When done consistently, they will significantly improve your joint mobility so that pistols get easier and more doable.

What Else Do You Get in the Course?

Working on pistols requires a lot of hard work on your part, so to make things a little bit easier for you, we’ve also included the following:

  • Full 8-week workout plan for both beginner and intermediate levels. When joining the course you’ll get access to both levels, but we’ll help you choose the level right for your current fitness level.
  • Over 20+ video demonstrations and detailed descriptions for all strength, flexibility and mobility exercises.
  • Progress Tracking journal to help you keep track of your progress along the way.
  • Additional HIIT workouts to keep your training more interesting.
  • Motivation and helpful articles related to training, recovery, and mindset to keep you motivated and fired up throughout the program.
  • The most common mistakes that you should be aware of when practicing your pistols, and how to avoid them.
  • Email check-ins and support to give you our 100% support and commitment to helping you to rock your pistol.

Why is it So Cheap?

At just $19.99, Rock the Pistol is one of the cheapest skill oriented courses available.

Why did we keep it so cheap? Simple: because we want fitness to be accessible to everyone.

That’s why we post free workouts on the site at least three times every single week.

That’s why we have a free timer app, so even if you don’t feel you can afford the $2.99 version, you can still do your own workouts, or workouts from the site, at no cost to you.

Rock the Pistol is no different. Although we poured our hearts into the course and 100% believe it’s absolutely the best pistol squat program available today, we want to make sure it’s accessible to everyone who is even slightly interested in learning to do pistol squats.

Because whether you ever buy anything from us or not, our #1 goal always is to help you discover a love of health and fitness and truly unlock your full potential.

Are You Ready to Rock the Pistol?

We’ve made Rock the Pistol as easy to follow as possible and provided you with best tools we know. These are the same tools that helped us and countless others finally be able to rock a pistol squat.

But at the end of the day, YOU have to put in the hard work, be consistent, keep training no matter what, and follow the plan as closely as possible.

So, are you in?

  1. I had ACL surgery about a year and a half ago and have a “loose” MCL now on the same knee. Is it safe for me to do Pistol Squats? I know the standard answer of Ask your Doctor, but in your experience, how much strain does this put on the joint?

    • Isaac, you’re right, ask your doctor is probably the best advice. But I personally would hold off from pistol training for now, because they do put a lot of stress on your knee. I’d start out with simpler exercises to strengthen your legs, like regular squats, split squats, lunges and walking lunges, step ups etc.

  2. Pistol training is so difficult. i have a love, hate relationship with them. I am flexible enough to do them but the strain on my leg always leaves me scared I’m going to pull a muscle!

    • Kyle, you will have to progress really carefully. In this program, we don’t jump right into full pistols but there are many modifications before that. Step by step 🙂

    • That’s a tough one.. Pistols put a lot of stress on your hips. It would be a good idea to check with a physical therapist or doctor.
