High Protein Flax Waffles Recipe (So Good!)

As much as I love my protein pancakes, sometimes it’s just nice to mix it up a little. As a kid, I loved Belgian waffles—you know, those giant ones packed with flour and sugar and topped with gobs of whipped cream and strawberries. The only problem with regular Belgian waffles? Not only are they not …

Coconut Chia Granola Recipe

These days, granola is often thought of in health conscious crowds as more of a junk food than a health food.

And for good reason: most of the granola you buy in the store is loaded with sugars and added sweeteners, and is essentially just a higher calorie version of the standard junk cereal.

But granola doesn’t have to be bad for you—with the right ingredients, granola can be a healthy option on days when you just need something quick and don’t feel like making protein pancakes or oatmeal.

There are two keys to making granola a sensible breakfast or snack option: be aware of your portion sizes and pair it with protein.

Most granolas have a portion size of 1/4 to 1/3 cup—and this one is no exception. It’s dense with nutrients though and includes healthy fats, which will both help fill you up faster and keep you feeling full longer.

Adding protein to your meal will add to that feeling of fullness, as well as help keep your muscles fed and happy and keep you lean and fit. Greek yogurt, eggs, and protein powder (in a smoothie maybe) are all good choices to have with your granola.

Ok, now for how to actually make this really yummy coconut chia granola:

Heavenly Berry Protein Cheesecake Recipe

Ok, by now you’ve probably realized I have a sweet tooth.

Truthfully, I’ve always been this way. Despite growing up in a household that ate pretty healthy most of the time, I was always trying to sneak something sweet. When I was little, we didn’t keep a lot of sweets around (or maybe they were just hidden from me), so I’d scavenge the cupboards and sneak bowls of sprinkles, sweetened shredded coconut, or whatever else sweet I could find that had even a hint of sugar.

And of course, when you’re a kid, or at least when you’re a fairly active kid, a little extra sugar here and there really doesn’t make a difference. It (usually) doesn’t screw with your energy levels, and doesn’t tend to cause weight gain as long as you’re active and bouncing around all the time like I was.

But once you reach adulthood? Yeah, the sweets you eat start to show.

Valentine’s Day Protein Truffles Recipe

Happy (almost) Valentine’s Day!

I’m not really a Valentine’s Day person, since I prefer pull ups and burpees to sappy romance and greeting card holidays (anyone else?). However, I am a huge fan of chocolate—specifically dark chocolate—so I’ll use any possible reason to make something new that’s chocolatey and delicious.

These dark chocolate protein truffles are not only delicious, they’re also packed with protein and healthy fats and use only a small amount of natural sweetener for an extra boost of wow. Trust me, they’re at least 10 times better for you than any candy you’re going to buy at the store, and they’re so good you won’t even feel like you’re being deprived when you make them for your sweetheart (or yourself).

Dark Chocolate Covered Mocha Protein Bars

I don’t know about you, but I’m a big fan of chocolate, coffee, and protein. So putting the three together to create mocha flavored protein bars just seemed like a very logical—and delicious—idea.

Plus, since most store bought protein bars are loaded with sugar and uncool ingredients, it’s a better option to make your own whenever you can. And since these bars require no baking and are easy to throw together, you can make them whenever you’re in need of an easy, totally satisfying, protein-packed snack.

Dark Chocolate Protein Cupcakes With Peanut Butter Greek Yogurt Frosting

Who can say no to a cupcake?

Actually, I can. Most cupcakes are loaded with sugar, flour, and unhealthy ingredients. And though I can never turn down a slice of homemade pie or a really good chocolate chip cookie—cupcakes are one of those foods that I’m pretty good at avoiding most of the time.

Until now. Because not only do these chocolate cupcakes have no flour or added refined sugar, they’re also full of protein and good carbs like oats. Their texture is moist and delicious, and can even be eaten for breakfast (as I just did), they’re so healthy.

And the frosting… mmm the frosting. The frosting makes these cupcakes go from pretty good cake to amazing cupcakes.

Incredible Healthy Chocolate Chip Protein Cookies Recipe

Healthy chocolate chip cookies? Is it really possible?

If you’d asked me a few years ago, I’d have said no way. A good chocolate chip cookie has lots of butter, lots of sugar, and very few nutrients.

But since I’m always looking for healthy treats, I decided to give a healthy chocolate chip cookie recipe a try. And you know what? A few tries later, something incredible happened.

I took the cookies out of the oven, let them cool for a few minutes and then took a bite of a healthy, delicious, gluten-free, vegan, chocolate chip cookie. And even better, it’s packed with protein!

These cookies are moist, subtly sweet, and uber satisfying. No, they don’t taste exactly like the traditional chocolate chip cookie you’ll buy at the store, but they are scrumptiously good.

gingerbread-protein-truffles3

Love gingerbread around the holidays, but don’t like what it does to your waistline?

Yeah, me too.

I’ve always had a thing for gingerbread molasses cookies, cakes and everything else. But since most gingerbread treats are packed with butter and sugar, I do my best to avoid it (most of the time).

So that’s why, after going grocery shopping one day and avoiding the temptation to buy everything gingerbread in the entire store, I decided it was time to make a healthified version of my favorite holiday treat. I put together these protein truffles, and… whoa! I think these may just satisfy every gingerbread craving I’ve ever had.

Spicy and sweet, chewy but still soft, with a layer of dark chocolate on the outside, these gingerbread truffles are all the gingerbread you could ever desire.

And, since they’re packed with protein and contain no added sugar, you don’t even have to feel guilty about eating them.

Here’s how to make these extremely decadent holiday gingerbread protein truffles:

Mini Crustless Pumpkin Protein Pie Recipe

pumpkin-protein-pie1

Hands down, pumpkin pie is one of my favorite desserts, ever.

There’s something about it that’s so comforting and just utterly delicious.

But while pumpkin pie is certainly one of the healthier pies out there—it is made from pumpkin, after all—it’s still packed with sugar, and isn’t exactly going to help you reach your goals if you’re trying to build muscle, lose weight, or just get leaner overall.

So that’s why I set out to create a pumpkin pie that I could not only feel less guilty about eating during the holidays, but one that was actually healthy—so healthy it could be eaten every day for the next few months for breakfast and be counted as the healthy part of your 80/20 diet.

And I did it! It took a couple of failures, but I ended up with a pie so amazing I may not feel the need to make a regular pumpkin pie ever again.

To be totally honest, I didn’t set out to make this pie crustless on purpose. I tried making a couple of crusts with protein powder, then nuts, but kept finding that while I really liked the filling, I could care less about the crust. Since I’m not a huge crust fan anyway, I decided to go ahead and just make it crustless. But don’t let this stop you from adding a crust—a graham cracker crust would probably add a nice touch, as would a nut based one. Be creative and experiment to your heart’s content.

No-Bake Chocolate Coconut Protein Cookies Recipe

I’ve always been a huge fan of no-bake cookies. Especially chocolate ones.

Chewy, buttery and delicious, they’re pretty much brownies in cookie form and and have long been one of my favorite desserts. But since I find it difficult to devour only one at a time, I tend to avoid them for the most part lest I start getting too hooked on all that butter and sugar.

So that’s why I got the idea to create a healthier, protein-filled version of no-bake cookies. Full of good fats, protein and oats, they’re a much healthier but just as satisfying version of the classic no-bake cookies. Plus, they’re a cinch to make!
