On why movement is more important than ever right now and a stair workout

Hey there,

Everyone I know is anxious right now.

We went from thinking the Covid pandemic was finally subsiding to once again avoiding crowds and scrambling to purchase better masks.

During times of uncertainty like these, it’s more important than ever to double down on a foundational habit: exercise.

Think about it: do you feel better when you sit on the couch and mindlessly binge watch Netflix for hours, or when you get up and do something active like work out or go for a walk? My guess is nine times out of ten, you’ll feel better after you exercise.

What I’m reading —

The Boy, the Mole, the Fox and the Horseby Charlie Mackesey

This is a beautiful little book exploring life’s universal lessons through the tale of a boy and his animal friends. It’s best read as a physical book as the drawings are a big part of what makes it so special.

What I’m listening to —

The Science Behind Why We Age / Lifespan with Dr. David Sinclair (Apple Podcasts)

Dr. David Sinclair is a professor of genetics and co-director of Harvard Medical School’s Center for Biology of Aging Research. He dives into the science of why we age and how to prevent and even reverse aging in this fascinating podcast series (so far, there are two episodes available out of the eight planned).

A quote that inspires me —

“The quest for certainty blocks the search for meaning. Uncertainty is the very condition to impel man to unfold his powers.” — Erich Fromm

What I’m training —

Here’s a full-body stair workout I posted on Instagram this week.

Three new workouts —

Explosive Bodyweight HIIT Workout (12 minute, equipment-free)

183 Rep Kettlebell Challenge Workout (Time challenge, kettlebell, pull-up bar)

460 Rep Bodyweight Challenge Workout (Time challenge, equipment-free)

You can get these and all future workouts right in the 12 Minute Athlete app when you subscribe as a Super Athlete.
